Coming Soon: Datasets on the Profession Available for Download

The American Political Science Association Research Team will make some of its databases available for APSA members starting summer 2022.

The APSA Research Department does research
focused on the political science profession and evaluates APSA’s programs and services. The Research Department implements four major surveys each year, including the Project on Woman and Minorities (P-WAM) and the Departmental Surveys in late spring (May/June), the Graduate Placement Survey in early summer (June/July), and the Membership Survey in mid- winter (February/March).

Datasets that will be available:

  • Departmental Survey
  • eJobs Data
  • P-WAM Survey
  • Graduate Placement Survey
  • Membership Survey

What does this mean?

The Research Team at APSA will make the above datasets available for APSA’s members. Included in most datasets available is an additional file with information about the survey, a description of the data, as well as variable names that are consistent in the same survey over multiple years. The questionnaire, codebook, and survey metadata will also be provided as a guide to the datasets. Members will be able to download the datasets in .csv, Excel,or XML format(s).

Not all datasets will be available at the same time. Any data that can identify participants will be removed before datasets are made public.

A list of the datasets by year can be found here. For any questions about the datasets contact: surveys@apsanet.org
