Junior Research Workshop in British Politics
Full Day, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Palais des congrés de Montréal, 512C
In support of the APSA 2022 Meeting conference theme, “Rethink, Restructure, and Reconnect: Towards A Post-Pandemic Political Science,” the British Politics Group seeks to create new opportunities for junior scholars in our subfield to build connections within the discipline and to engage in productive mentoring relationships to support their research. For a workshop to take place on the Wednesday prior to the main APSA meeting, we invite junior scholars – tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty, graduate students, and post-docs – to present research in progress on the subject of British politics, or on subjects that substantially include the United Kingdom in comparative perspective. The British Politics Group has particular strengths in political parties, elections, public opinion, institutions, women in British politics, regional politics and nationalism, and the politics and process of Brexit, but we welcome proposals in all areas of British politics. We particularly welcome submissions from scholars who are underrepresented in our subfield.
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to present their research and to receive in-depth feedback in small groups or one-on-one from senior British Politics Group members. Those who are interested in presenting research should submit a proposal no later than April 30, 2022 to Janet Laible at firstname.lastname@example.org Proposals of no more than five hundred words total should include an abstract of the research, a brief note to explain the proposer’s eligibility for the workshop, and an indication of one or more subject areas to enable us to find a suitable mentor/discussant. Those who would like to serve as a mentor/discussant should contact Dr. Laible by April 30, 2022 to indicate their interest and their research subfields.
All participants (junior scholars and mentors/discussants) will need to register for the main APSA meeting; short courses also involve a small additional registration fee. Please contact the workshop chair, Janet Laible, at email@example.com with any questions.
