APSA Invites Faculty Proposals to lead Dissertation Workshops!

The American Political Science Association invites faculty proposals to lead individual dissertation workshops in 2023. Please feel free to share the call for proposals below.

Each APSA Dissertation Workshop will include 6-8 Ph.D. candidates who will each present a dissertation chapter, along with two faculty facilitators who will lead the workshop, provide feedback to the students, and moderate discussions. Each workshop will be devoted to a specific subfield.

Faculty co-leader responsibilities include reviewing applications, selecting candidates, moderating presentations and discussions, and providing comments to each presenter. APSA staff will provide logistical support organizing the workshop and recruiting students for participation. Each faculty co-leader will receive an honorarium of $500 dollars.

APSA is pleased to offer Dissertation Workshops in two formats in 2023:

  1. Full day in-person pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the 119th APSA Annual Meeting & Exhibition held in Los Angeles, California.
  2. Virtual workshops to be held during the summer. The schedule is flexible and co-leaders can work with APSA staff to determine the exact schedule. We expect direct engagement with workshop participants for a minimum of 8-10 hours total over the course of a two week workshop window.

Proposals should include a subfield and topic of focus for the workshop, title, and a description of the workshop theme. Proposals should also include the names, contact information, and CVs of two co-leaders, both of whom would moderate the workshop.
