Theme Panel: Responsibility for Racial Justice

Responsibility for Racial Justice

Fri, September 4, 2:30 to 4:00pm, Hilton, Continental Parlor 2

Session Description

This panel brings together empirical scholars of race and politics with normative political theorists who workResponsibility-for-Racial-Justice on race to consider the question of responsibility for racial injustice in the twenty-first century U.S., where many of our most pressing racial injustices are systemic and structural. It also brings together established senior faculty members and emerging younger scholars. Provoked by the highly publicized killings of black citizens by white police officers in 2014 and developed over a series of conversations and exchanges that fall, the panel is both timely and unusually coherent.
