MENA Research Development Group
Organized in partnership with the MENA Politics Section, this full-day short course provides a collaborative space for the development of emerging research on Middle East and North Africa (MENA) politics. The session will feature the work of six early-career scholars whose research spans critical issues in the region. To foster deep engagement, papers will be shared in advance, allowing participants to provide informed feedback and engage in robust discussion during the course.
The workshop is co-chaired by Curtis Ryan (Appalachian State University), Zahra Babar (Georgetown University), and Summer Forester (Appalachian State University), and is co-sponsored by the MENA Politics Section. Presenters include Aisha Aljaedy (American University in Cairo), Boutaina Ait Ouchaou (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University), Dhouha Jerbi (Geneva Graduate Institute), Ghadir Awad (University of Michigan), Mohamed Elgohari (George Mason University), and Omar Aziez (Philipps-Marburg University).
Designed to foster scholarly exchange and mentorship, this short course offers a valuable opportunity for Annual Meeting participants to engage with cutting-edge research in MENA politics and contribute to the professional development of a new generation of scholars. All Annual Meeting participants are welcome to pre-register and join the session.
