Media Mastery: Sharing Your Voice with the Public

Half Day Short Course
9:00am – 1:00pm

In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, political scientists and public intellectuals have more opportunities than ever to share their research with broad audiences, but many feel unprepared to do so effectively. Media Mastery: Sharing Your Voice with the Public is a half-day workshop designed to equip APSA members with foundational media training, helping scholars transform their ideas into accessible, compelling narratives for platforms such as podcasts, print publications, television, and digital media.

Led by Nanda Dyssou, founder and lead publicist at the Coriolis Company, this interactive course will cover strategies for preparing for interviews across diverse platforms, using real-world case studies to illustrate successful media campaigns. Dyssou, known for her work promoting the voices of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized academics, will offer guidance on enhancing public visibility, building a media persona, and engaging audiences with clarity and confidence. Participants will also receive personalized feedback based on their individual projects and goals.

This short course is ideal for scholars seeking to boost their public profile, communicate research to broader audiences, or position themselves as expert voices in national and global conversations. Whether you’re new to media engagement or looking to sharpen your approach, this session offers practical tools to elevate your public impact.
