Meet APSA Congressional Fellow Bridget Balch — Applications for 2018-2019 Fellowships due Dec. 4!

Since 1953 the APSA Congressional Fellowship Program has supported political scientists, journalists, and other professionals in gaining first-hand knowledge of Congress and policymaking through fellowship placements in congressional offices. The APSA is pleased to welcome the 2017-2018 class of fellows. Learn more about the Congressional Fellowship Program and apply now for the 2018-2019 fellowship year. Bridget Balch – Houston Chronicle,  2017-2018 APSA Congressional Fellow

Bridget Balch is a reporter who covered local government, education, development, health and other community issues for the Houston Chronicle in Texas. At the Chronicle, she was part of a team of reporters and editors that crafted an award-winning feature series on immigration and growing diversity in Houston. She also covered breaking news, including Hurricane Harvey and other major flooding events.

Before working at the Chronicle, she spent six months living and volunteering in a homeless shelter for immigrants and refugees in Houston.

Balch is a Virginia native who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA with a degree in Spanish and English.
