Meet 2020 APSR Editor, Julie Novkov of University of Albany, SUNY

Julie Novkov is Professor of Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University at Albany, SUNY. She is the author of Racial Union (Michigan 2008), which was co-recipient of APSA’s 2009 Ralph Bunche Award; Constituting Workers, Protecting Women (Michigan 2001); and The Supreme Court and The Presidency (CQ Press 2013). She is also co-editor of Statebuilding from the Margins (with Carol Nackenoff, Penn 2014); Race and American Political Development (with Joseph Lowndes and Dorian Warren, Routledge 2008); and Security Disarmed (with Barbara Sutton and Sandra Morgen, Rutgers 2008). She has served on the editorial boards of six journals, including the APSR, and her engagement in the profession has included stints as president/chair of the Western Political Science Association, the Sexuality and Politics section of the APSA, and the Law and Courts section of the APSA, as well as a term on the APSA Council.
