Meet 2020 APSR Editor, Denise Walsh of University of Virginia

Denise Walsh is Associate Professor in the Departments of Politics and Women, Gender & Sexuality, and founding co-director of the Power, Violence and Inequality Collective at the University of Virginia. She is the author of Women’s Rights in Democratizing States (Cambridge University Press 2010), as well as articles in edited volumes and journals such as Signs and Comparative Political Studies. Her current book project is a cross-regional comparative analysis of the politics of multiculturalism and women’s rights in Canada, South Africa and the European Court of Human Rights. Professor Walsh’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, USAID, and the Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College, and she has served on the editorial board of Politics, Groups & Identities and was President of the APSA Women’s Caucus for Political Science (2016-17) and a member of the APSA Committee on the Status of Women in the Profession (2016-2018).
