Tell us about your department and faculty:

In addition to offering a PhD in Security Studies, the department also houses an Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence (IC CAE), the Lou Frey Institute of Politics & Government, a Kurdish Political Studies Program, the Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Program for Strategic Research and Studies, and the India Center. We offer a graduate and undergraduate certificate in Intelligence & National Security as well as several other minors and certificates.

Our faculty (in excess of 30 full-time) cover all major fields in political science. We have particular strengths in international relations and comparative politics, including a focus on conflict and security.

We provide multiple opportunities for our undergraduates to round out their education and pursue different pathways to prepare for future careers and graduate or professional schools, including Honors in the Major, internship programs locally and nationally (including the Washington Center program), UCF Legislative Scholars Program, research opportunities, and study abroad programs.

Tell us about your graduate students:  

Graduate students have won “best paper” awards at conferences, regularly present their research at conferences, and have published on their own or in collaboration with faculty members in outlets such as the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Studies in Comparative and International Politics, PS: Political Science & Politics, Politics, African Security, Journal of Strategic Security, The National Interest, and others.
