Call for Papers – PS: Political Science and Politics invites research submissions that make critical theoretical and empirical contributions on the topics addressed by Dr. McClain’s career and book, “Can We All Get Along? Racial and Ethnic Minorities in American Politics.”
Dr. Paula D. McClain is a masterful scholar-educator and an icon in the discipline of political science and academia overall. For more than 40 years, Dr. McClain’s research has presented insightful, rigorous coverage of the American political landscape of minoritized peoples. Most significantly, however, as individual and institutional commitments to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion have waxed and waned, Dr. Paula D. McClain remained steadfast in her resolve to propel political science toward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive place in its scholarship and among its scholars. Her monumental contributions to political science have ensured that Race, Ethnicity, and Politics (REP) and racially and ethnically diverse political scientists are both mainstays of the discipline and in the vanguard of its research.
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the first edition publication of McClain’s Can We All Get Along? Racial and Ethnic Minorities in American Politics (Westview Press, 1995). To mark this anniversary, the topics addressed includes the following:
