Call for Applications: APSA Centennial Center Teaching Workshop

The APSA Centennial Center for Political Science and Public Affairs will host a two-day, teaching-oriented workshop for faculty in the field of international relations.

Led by Joyce Kaufman (Whittier College) and Victor Asal (SUNY-Albany), this workshop will take place October 20-21, 2017 at APSA’s national office in Washington, DC.

Approximately 15 faculty members will be invited to take part in the workshop, which will focus on sharing and developing teaching resources for international relations courses. Applicants should have at least 3 years’ experience teaching their own IR-related course (Intro to International Relations, US Foreign Policy, World Politics, etc). We encourage applications from faculty at a range of institutions, including universities and two- and four-year colleges.

In addition to assessing fundamental texts and themes of IR-related courses, the program will include a series of roundtables in which each participant will share a specific teaching resource, class project, or course component with the group. Examples of teaching resources or topics of presentation may include:

  • Specific syllabi themes
  • Simulations
  • Community engagement projects
  • Use of social media
  • In-class exercises and assignments
  • Assessment tools

The deadline for applications is Sunday, August 6, 2017. Submit your proposal today!
