The January Chart of the Month focuses on graduate placement outcomes. The chart highlights overall placement outcomes during the 2009-2010 to 2016-2017 academic years, as well as placement outcomes by degree status during the 2016-2017 academic year. Graduate placement in tenure-track positions decreased from 31.9% in 2015-2016 to 26.3% in 2016-2017. In the 2016-2017 academic year candidates with a PhD were over twice as likely to receive a tenure-track placement than ABD candidates.
