Meet 2020 Bunche Fellow, Michaela Shelton

Michaela Shelton, Pomona College

Michaela Shelton is a student at Pomona College majoring in politics with a concentration in comparative politics. Michaela is a student activist who has done work in youth civic engagement. In the fall of 2018, she co-lead a team of 30 first year volunteers at Pomona College to get-out-the-vote and helped revive the school’s partnership with TurboVote. The team’s efforts resulted in a 23% increase in voter participation on Pomona’s campus, earning the school a silver medal with the ALL IN Campus Democracy challenge. Michaela’s interest in advocacy spans across voting rights, criminal justice reform, and civil rights. After college, she hopes to enter a career of public service by pursuing a JD/PhD program in law and political science.
